Volkswagen introduced the next generation of modern car: called as Beetle. At first glance, compared to the first “new Zhuk” 1998 there is no much difference, except on the roof line which is designed is more traditional style. Compared with its predecessor, this VW Beetle is designed longer, wider and lower. Beetle’s body proportions are more athletic and muscular. The dimensions of the new model is length of 4278 mm (+152 mm), width 1,808 mm (+84 mm), height 1,486 mm (-12 mm). The wheelbase measures 2,537 mm.
The design team of this Volkswagen Beetle is led by Walter de Silva (chief designer of VW Group) and Klaus Bischoff (chief designer brand Volkswagen). The design chalenge was to preserve the famous silhouette of the “Beetle” and make it even more recognizable.
